TBP Engineering Futures Program

March 22, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm CDT

The members have an opportunity to earn a maximum of 2 professional points by attending 2 sessions of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering futures program. The event is organized by TBP to provide engineering students training in the “soft skills,” those non-technical skills necessary for success in the workplace but rarely included in the engineering curriculum. The Engineering Futures Program received national recognition as the winner of the 2007 Excellence in Engineering Education Collaboration Award.

The upcoming dates for these events are: March 16 (8-9pm ET), March 22 (7-8pm ET), March 30 (8-9pm ET), April 6 (8-9pm ET), April 8 (8-9pm ET), April 13 (8-9pm ET), April 20 (8-9pm). Click here for more information about the topics and registration of these events.

To earn 2 professional points, the members must attend two sessions of this EF program (1 point for each session). After attending, the members must write a brief summary of the important takeaways from that event. Members can submit their summary here.

In your summary, please make sure to put your name, netID, your major, and if you are an undergrad or a graduate student. These summaries will be available to all of our members to read and learn from your experience. This is a great way to contribute to our organization while learning something new and earning few more professional points. The summary can also be in bullet points. Please note that the members can only get a maximum of 2 points out of these EF programs. Attending all the events is highly recommended though, as it would help you to sharpen your soft skills for future interactions with employers.

The event for March 22, titled Investing Basics: Five Steps to Build a Disciplined Investment Strategy, is hosted by Matt Hennemann.
