Description
Illinois Alpha has held several seminars where alumni of the chapter come and speak about their research, work, or experiences after college. This can be done with either Tau Beta Pi alumni in the area or university alumni.

Preparation & Administration
- Reach out to alumni to find a speaker for the event and coordinate a date and time with them.
- If you want local TBP alumni, you can reach out to local Alumni Chapters
- If you want your university’s TBP alumni, you can reach out to Nationals and they will provide you with a list and contact information they have on file
- Reserve a room (if needed) and advertise the event to your members
- The speaker should have plenty of material prepared, but it is recommended that the member who organizes the event also have some questions prepared in case the conversation lags.
Additional Notes & Resources
- You can also invite the rest of the college to attend the seminars, especially the department that the speaker is from
- Some alumni are willing to travel to come speak, especially if they have other reasons to visit the area. Don’t hesitate to reach out just because they aren’t located locally.
