Description
As part of their initiation requirements, Illinois Alpha Initiates polish a small metal bent. The initiates come in small groups and current members proctor the sessions and give approval on the polished bent.

- Available through the TBP store: Bent Flat Casting (CHAPTERS ONLY) – Tau Beta Pi
- Polishing supplies
- Illinois Alpha uses metal files, available on Amazon
- Optional supplies

Preparation & Administration
- Set up a sign-up sheet with slots for initiates to polish as well as for members to proctor
- Time slots should be 2 hours long. Most people take ~1-1.5 hours to polish their bent, but some people choose to stay longer
- Prepare the space and set aside time for cleanup after the event as well.
Additional Notes & Resources
- Bent polishing can get loud, especially with multiple people in the room at once. Let initiates know they are welcome to bring headphones, and keep the noise in mind when selecting a location.
