Description
For chapters with a large bent monument, it should be frequently polished to keep it looking shiny, especially if it’s outdoors! At Illinois Alpha, this is a popular event for our members as it lets them recount their experience shining a small bent during their initiation process.
Materials
- Bent Monument (not all chapters have these, if you’re interested in installing one, contact Headquarters)
- Sandpaper
- This is what Illinois Alpha uses as the metal files that we use for small bent polishing leave scratches on the big Bent if not done properly. There are probably other methods to polish large bents as well.
Cost Breakdown
- Sandpaper ($10)
Preparation & Administration
- Contact your members and determine a time that works best for everyone to polish the bent. It usually takes a small group of people a little less than an hour to polish, with plenty of time for breaks and conversation.
- Illinois Alpha’s bent is outside and we usually polish it once per semester (twice per year), but this can vary by chapter.
Additional Notes & Resources
- As usual, if chapter funds allow, snacks and light refreshments are appreciated by those in attendance.
