Project Type: Chapter Administration, Initiation
Project Cost: $0

Description
Each semester, Illinois Alpha establishes several committees in order to help plan events for our chapter. We require that all undergraduate initiates be on a committee as part of their initiation process, and members can also join to work on the projects as well. Each committee meets 4 times during the semester and has 10-25 members.
Materials
None (events planned by the committees may require materials, but the committee meetings themselves do not)

Preparation & Administration
- Determine how many committees you will need for the semester. We’ve found that ~10 people per committee works best, and larger committees can still work, but should probably be broken into subcommittees.
- Find a lead or co-leads for each committee. In the past we’ve had both executive board members and general members lead committees.
- Have members/initiates sign up for the committees they are interested in serving on. You can make this a requirement for initiates and/or members, or simply whoever is interested.
- Set meeting dates and times for the committees. Illinois Alpha has our committees meet 4 times per semester, about once every 2 or 3 weeks.
- If general members are running the committees, make sure they check in with a member of the executive board after each meeting, especially if their project requires funding.
