Description
Craft nights are another one of Illinois Alpha’s favorite events. They are easy to host and a fun social event where members and initiates can get to know each other and do some fun activities. Our members’ favorite craft is painting, but we’ve also done origami and drawing/sketching.
Materials
- Any materials for the desired type of craft. IL-A usually has the following available at most of our craft nights.
- Paper (printer & construction)
- Pencils, pens, markers, colored pencils
- Canvases
- Paint
Cost Breakdown
- Paper (~$5)
- Canvases (~$10 for a multipack)
- Paints & brushes (~$5)
Organization & Administration
- Pick a date, time, and location for the event and advertise to your members
- Make sure it’s a space where crafts are allowed (UIUC is very weird about this…) and if painting in a public space, bringing a tablecloth is recommended to keep paint off of the table
- Purchase any necessary materials. IL-A usually buys in bulk so we can reuse materials for several craft nights.
- Be sure to clean up the space when you leave, especially if it is a public space or classroom
