Preparation & Administration
- Determine a local location to donate the items to at the end of the event. Depending on the location, you may want to reach out to them beforehand and let them know that you will be bringing donations by, and to check if there are any items in particular that they are asking for.
- Usually, Illinois Alpha donates food to the Eastern Illinois Food Bank and clothes to Salt & Light
- Set up a time and location for members to drop off the items for donation
- Illinois Alpha holds a variety of time slots over the course of a week where members can stop by the TBP office and drop off their donations with a board member
- Advertise to the members, and include if you are asking for any items in particular
- Check that the donations are good to send (i.e., check that food is not expired, etc.), box it up neatly and take it to the location
Additional Notes & Resources
- If you would like to increase the number of donations, you can open it up to all of campus to drop off donations. This is also a great way to get the TBP name out around campus.
