Description
Halfway through each semester our chapter holds a 1-hour mid-semester general meeting where we do a recap of the first half of the semester and provide reminders of initiation requirements. Recently, we have also been using this meeting to vote on bylaw updates (fall semester) and National Constitution updates (spring semester).

Preparation & Administration
- Pick a time for your general meeting and reserve a room if needed. We also typically offer a Zoom option for our chapter as well. Share the meeting time and location with your members.
- Create a slide deck and any necessary voting forms for the meeting. An outline of IL-A’s mid-semester general meetings is below:
- Recap of semester so far
- Large upcoming events
- Bylaw and/or constitution voting (if needed)
- Reminder of initiation/membership requirements
Additional Notes & Resources
- Many chapters do weekly or bi-weekly general meetings, but with our chapter size it’s hard to get everyone together that frequently.
- As always, food is always encouraged if chapter funds allow.
