Professor coffee chats are our most popular professional events. While they fall under the category of professional, they are an opportunity for members to speak with a professor about their research, experience, and life advice in a casual, informal setting.

Preparation & Administration
- Reach out to professors and ask if they would be willing to take an hour of their time to speak with your Tau Beta Pi members about their career and experiences.
- Pick a time and location (ideally what works best for the professor), and advertise to the chapter.
- The member in charge of the coffee chat should have some questions prepared in case the conversation lags during the event.
Additional Notes & Resources
- We often poll our members at the beginning of the semester to ask if there is a particular professor or department they would like to have a coffee chat with.
- If chapter funds allow, you can provide snacks and light refreshments for those in attendance. Cookies, donuts, and hot chocolate are easy to purchase and usually well-received.
